Richard Carpenter (screenwriter)

Richard Carpenter ( née: Richard Michael " Kip " Carpenter, born August 14, 1929 in King's Lynn, Norfolk, England; † February 26, 2012 in Hertfordshire, England ) was a British author, screenwriter and actor.

Work

Richard Carpenter is best known for his novels about the wizard Catweazle, which he adapted for a television series in the early 1970 's. After that, he wrote screenplays for numerous other youth series, which were based in part on his own novels as well as submissions from other authors such as Black Beauty, Five, Dick Turpin, Robin Hood, A The Borrowers, The Scarlet Pimpernel and I Was a Rat by Philip Pullman.

For the animated series Doctor Snuggles he wrote the first six episodes.

In various television series he also took small guest roles.
