Richard Clayderman

Richard Clayderman ( born December 28, 1953 as Philippe Robert Louis Pagès in Paris ) is a French pianist.

The music composed for him music is audience appeal, entertaining and is often seen as "romantic". Clayderman became known in the German-speaking area in the early 1980s with television appearances, collaborations and Others with James Last and especially with the piece Ballade pour Adeline, which can be regarded as the beginning of his career.

Childhood and youth

The son of a French pianist and piano teacher, Clayderman was born under the civil name Philippe Pagès. He adopted the surname of his great-grandmother at the mispronunciation of his name to avoid. Early in his youth, the family discovered his talent for the piano, which already qualified him at the age of twelve years for a shot at the Conservatory of Music.

Career

In 1976 he began his international career as he took as a mandate pianist for the French producer duo Olivier Toussaint and Paul de Senneville a program written for Senne Villes daughter Adeline piece. For the publication of this piece, called Ballade pour Adeline, he adopted the stage name of Richard Clayderman on, as a reminiscence of his great-grandmother, but above all, to avoid a mispronunciation of his bourgeois name.

The single sold over 22 million copies in 38 countries. Since then he has sold over 70 million records and reached more than 270 gold records and 70 platinum awards.
