Richard Greene (musician)

Richard Greene ( born November 9, 1942 in Los Angeles, California) is an American violinist who has played in several folk and rock bands. His most successful period was the 1960s, when he was a member of Seatrain among others.

Even as a child learned Greene to play the classical violin. During school, he discovered his love of folk music. In 1960 he began studying at the University of Berkeley. At that time, he played in various bands, such as the Coast Mountain Ramblers and the Dry City Scat band.

Even during his first years as a real estate broker he continued music, such as at the Pina Valley Boys. In 1964, he met in New York Bill Keith of the Blue Grass Boys, where he became a member two years later. He can be heard on the album Bluegrass Time.

After a year at the Blue Grass Boys Greene went to the Jim Kweskin Jug Band, in which Bill Keith and Geoff and Maria Muldaur played. With them he took in 1968 the album Garden Of Joy on.

There he returned to California where he joined the Blues Project, which it burst into Seatrain soon. After three years at Seatrain he founded with Bill Keith Blue Velvet band that just an album, Sweet Moments, produced.

Then Richard Greene played on numerous studio recordings known colleagues, including James Taylor, Emmylou Harris, Rod Stewart and Taj Mahal, just to name a few. He also recorded several solo albums.
