Richard Guyon

Richárd Count Guyon (* 1803 in Walcot in Bath, England, † October 12, 1856 in Üsküdar, Constantinople Opel, now Istanbul ) was a general.

Life

Guyon joined the British Legion in 1828 in Portugal, and fought there against Dom Miguel. He was an officer in the Austrian service in 1832 and took over as first lieutenant of hussars to leave.

1848 Guyon joined the Hungarian Revolution, fought among others, Trnava and Schwechat (October 30 ) against the imperial troops, fought with a few hussars by following the besieged Komárom. On the day of battle at Acs (28 April 1849), he contributed greatly to the victory of Hungary, of this he was appointed General. On 1 July, he captured the fortress of Arad and forced Jelacic on July 14 at the Battle of Hegyes to retreat. However, he was defeated at Mosorin and then covered with the Italian and Polish Legion to escape Kossuth at Orşova. He then also entered with his troops on Turkish territory on, was Turkish general and commanded as Koorshid Pasha in Damascus, where he was in 1850 suppressed the uprising of the Old Turks. During the Orient War Guyon was assigned to the employees posted to Caucasia Turkish Corps as chief of staff, was able to win there, but no success.

Richard Guyon died on 12 October 1856 of cholera in Üsküdar, Constantinople Opel.
