Richard Haas

Richard John Haas ( born August 29, 1936 in Spring Green, Wisconsin) is an American muralist. He is particularly known for its architecturally -influenced murals and its perfect trompe l'oeil technique.

Works

Murals by Richard Haas can be found in and on numerous public buildings in the United States. Some of them are Chase Field, the Robert C. Byrd Federal Building & Courthouse in Beckley, West Virginia, the main building of the New York Public Library, the Lakewood Public Library (Ohio ), the Judicial Center in Sarasota County, Florida, and the former Board of Education building in Brooklyn, New York. One of his most famous works, the " Brooklyn Bridge" shows very well the connection of picturesque genius and architectural empathy. Richard Haas created in 1984 a three facades bedeckendes mural at the former Edison Brothers Stores building and today the Sheraton Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri, where he began silicate paints. The total area of the image is 1100 square meters.

The only work of art by Richard Haas in Europe can be seen in Munich between Rumford and women's road at the so-called Zwingereck. It is one of his early works, created in 1978, when an exhibition of Richard Haas was held in Munich. Since 2009, the work is no longer visible because of a new building from the outside.
