Richard Kiepert

Richard Kiepert (* September 13, 1846 in Weimar, † August 4, 1915 in Berlin) was a German geographer and cartographer.

Life

Richard Kiepert participated after completing his academic studies in the work of his father Heinrich Kiepert and also edited the scientific legacy. He also gave out school wall maps, atlases and individual maps. Kiepert focused particularly on the map of Africa and gave the German Colonial Atlas for official use in the protected areas (Berlin 1893) and a map of German East Africa out.

Between 1875 and 1887 edited Kiepert the geographical- ethnographic journal globe. Since 1877 he was scientific director of Dietrich Reimers cartographic institute in Berlin.

Richard Kiepert died on 4 August 1915 at the age of 68 in Berlin.
