Richard Li

Richard Li ( born November 8, 1966 in Hong Kong ) is a Canadian entrepreneur. He is Chairman of PCCW - Holding.

The son of multi-billionaire Li Ka -shing first completed the St. Paul 's Co -educational College in Hong Kong and went at the age of 13 years to California, where he attended the Menlo School in Atherton, one of the wealthiest communities in the United States. There he took a job at McDonald's and as a caddy at the local golf course. Li began studying at Stanford University computer science, but the study dropped out after three years without a degree.

In the 1980s he also acquired the Canadian citizenship.

In 1991 he borrowed from his father, U.S. $ 250 million to establish StarTV, which he later for 950 million U.S. $ sold to Rupert Murdoch. With the proceeds, he founded the Pacific Century Group. Li is the majority owner of the Marunouchi high-rise building in Tokyo.

In 2006 he founded the National Arts Centre in Ottawa 1 million Canadian dollars for a mentoring program for young musicians.

In 2009 he purchased for around U.S. $ 500 million asset management company of American International Group.

With the singer Isabella Leong he has a daughter and twin sons.
