Richard Meredith (ice hockey)

Richard Otis "Dick" Meredith ( born December 22, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1960 he won the gold medal as a member of the U.S. national team. His younger brother Wayne Meredith was also Olympian in hockey.

Career

Dick Meredith began his career as a hockey player at the University of Minnesota, which he attended from 1951 to 1955 while he was playing in parallel for their hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Then the attacker spent a year at Team USA at the Olympic preparation. In the season 1956/57 he played for the amateur team Minneapolis bungalows, before he spent at the Olympic Preparation of Team USA for another three years. From 1960 to 1963 he stood for the Minneapolis Millers in the professional International Hockey League on the ice. Between 1961 and 1963 he also appeared for the amateur teams Rebels Minneapolis and St. Paul Steers. He then finished his career at the age of 30 years.

Internationally

For the U.S., Meredith took part in the Winter Olympics 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo in 1960 in Squaw Valley. At the Winter Games in 1956 he won the silver at the Winter Games in 1960, the gold medal with his team. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1958 and 1959.
