Richard P. Herrick

Richard Platt Herrick ( born March 23, 1791 in Greenbush (now Rensselaer ), New York, † June 20 1846 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. He represented in the years 1845 and 1846, the New York State in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Richard Platt Herrick was born about eight years after the end of the Revolutionary War in Greenbush in Rensselaer County. In 1839 he sat in the New York State Assembly. Politically he belonged to the Whig party. In the congressional elections of 1844 for the 29th Congress Herrick was in the twelfth electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of David L. Seymour to March 4, 1845. He died, however, before the end of the term of office on 20 June 1846 in Washington DC and was buried in Greenbush on the same cemetery.
