Richard Pribram

Richard Pribram ( Pribram also; * April 21, 1847 in Prague, † January 7, 1928 in Berlin) was an Austrian chemist. He is a member of the Jewish family physicians Pribram.

Life

Pribram studied at the Charles University in Prague and the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich, where he 1869 Dr. phil. doctorate. After a short stay in Leipzig, he became in 1869 assistant at the Zoological Institute of the University of Prague in 1870 and Assistant to the Chair of Organic Chemistry at the Physiological Institute of the University of Leipzig. 1872 was followed by a PhD degree in Chemistry in Prague until 1874 and an activity as a lecturer. In 1874 he was a professor of chemistry at the newly founded trade school in Chernivtsi and moved there in 1875 as a lecturer at the university. In 1876 he obtained a position as associate professor and then finally in 1879 a Chair as Professor of General and Analytical Chemistry in Czernowitz. Of 1883/84 he was dean of his faculty, 1891/92 he was rector of the university. 1905 Appointment as Privy Councillor. After retirement in 1906 he moved as a lecturer to Vienna. His son was the surgeon Bruno Oskar Pribram.

He was buried in the cemetery military road. The grave site is resolved.
