Richard Swedberg

Richard Swedberg ( born May 18, 1948 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish sociologist.

After studying law with LL.M degree in Law in 1970 at the University of Stockholm, he studied sociology and Ph.D. in sociology in 1978 from the Department of Sociology at Boston College. In 1984 he returned to the University of Stockholm and taught there until 2002 Sociology with a focus on economic sociology. In this phase drops his involvement with the classics of Socio-Economics, Max Weber and Joseph Schumpeter. Since July 2002 he has been a full-time professor of sociology at the internationally renowned Center for the Study of Economy and Society at Cornell University (New York, USA), where he current economic sociological topics such as the new capitalism, entrepreneurship and, indeed, the self-understanding of economic sociology dedicated.
