Richard Taylor (British politician)

Richard Taylor ( * July 7, 1934 ) is an English physician and politician. He is chairman of the British Party Independent Kidderminster Hospital and Health Concern. From 2001 to 2010 he represented the constituency of Wyre Forest in the House.

The party whose Chairman Taylor was already emerged in the course of a political campaign that fought against the closure of the emergency department of the hospital of Kidderminster. In the Lower House elections of 2001 Taylor won the seat unexpectedly his constituency of Wyre Forest. In the legislative period 2001-2005 he was the only "independent" representatives in the House - all the other members of Parliament were either part of the Labour Party or the Conservative Party on. In the general election, 2005, he was just re-elected. This was the first time since 1949 that an Independent could defend his parliamentary seat in the next election. Had helped here is that the Liberal Democrats, who wants to establish itself as a third party currently in the UK, lined up no candidate of their own, but the choice Taylors recommended.

At the general election in 2010, however, the Liberal Democrats set for Wyre Forest its own candidate on, and so became in the end the candidate of the Conservative Party received the most votes in the constituency, which Taylor lost his House seat.
