Richard Tol

Richard SJ Tol ( born December 2, 1969 in Hoorn ) is a Dutch economist.

He is a researcher at the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin, Ireland, also holds a professorship at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and worked at the University of Hamburg and the Hamburg Centre for Marine and Atmospheric Sciences. He also worked at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Academic career

Tol made ​​the 1992 Master's degree in Econometrics at the Free University of Amsterdam, where he became a PhD in Economics in 1997. From 1998 he contributed with 19 other scientists on the UN Environment Programme. Tol also worked with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He was from 2000 to 2006 Professor in Hamburg and then went to the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin.
