Richard Trunk

Richard Trunk ( born February 10, 1879 in Tauberbischofsheim, † June 2, 1968 in Herrsching am Ammersee ) was a German composer.

Biography

In 1894 he resumed his studies at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt. From 1896 to 1899 he studied at the Munich Academy of Music with Joseph Rheinberger. In 1912 he goes as head of the Arion Society in New York, where he remained until the outbreak of the First World War. After that, he lives as a writer on music, conductor and accompanist in Munich. 1925 wedding with the singer Maria Delbran. From 1925 he is at the Rheinische Music School in Cologne, first as deputy director, from 1933 as director, works. 1931 in the NSDAP he enters (member number 659 692 ). Richard Trunk in 1934 became president of the State Academy of Music in Munich (now the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich ). 1935-1939 he was conductor of the Munich teacher Choral Society. After 1945 he lived until his death in 1968 withdrawn in Riederau am Ammersee.

In 1933 he was made an honorary citizen of the city Tauberbischofsheim, 1952 by vineyards am Ammersee. The Richard Trunk Music School in Tauberbischofsheim bears his name, just as a road.

National Socialism
