Richard Venture

Richard Venture ( born November 12, 1923 in New York City, New York ) is an American actor.

Life

Venture began his career in the theater and had his Broadway debut in 1951 in the melodrama Dinosaur Wharf on the side of Barnard Hughes, which, however, was discontinued after four performances. In 1953 he played Tubal in William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. The following year, he had a television debut in the soap opera The Secret Storm; his career, however, came in the wake not in motion and it was in the early 1970s with a few brief guest appearances and a walk-on role in a feature film. His first major film role in 1972 in Paul Newman The effect of gamma rays on marigolds, from then on he was for the next few decades a lot of booked guest of various series formats. He also had supporting roles in, among other excellent with four Oscars drama The Untouchables, the satirical film Welcome Mr. Chance, the movie The Sicilian Mafia and the literary adaptation Scent of a Woman. He had a slightly bigger role opposite Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek as U.S. ambassador to the Oscar - winning drama missing from Costa -Gavras. Television audiences he is primarily through his role as Lt.. Cmdr. He had Leo Altobelli known in the television series Streethawk, more recurring series roles including as John Osborne in Falcon Crest and as Douglas Greer in Law & Order.
