Richie Campbell

Richie Campbell ( * 1987, when Ricardo Costa) is the stage name of a Portuguese musician of reggae.

His stage name is derived from a form of his real first name Ricardo, and the last name Campbell, whom he has borrowed two revered musicians, Turbulence ( Sheldon Campbell) and Admiral T ( Chrissy Campbell).

His music ranges from reggae, dancehall, soul and lovers rock, with its clear, strong and young voice is an essential feature. Since 2004 he has been active in the reggae scene when he was part of the dancehall band Stepacide. After he was toaster for the No Joke Sound System, he has sung for various DJs dubplates. In parallel, he was increasingly active as a solo singer.

He has since worked as a solo singer with various other reggae musicians, including Ky- Mani Marley and Alborosie. In 2011 he accompanied Anthony B on his European tour.

The video for his 2012 Newly Published song That's how we roll, he turned for the first time in Jamaica, partly with musicians, some with passers-by in everyday life. In the same year he released his album Focused, including with Turbulence, Anthony B. and Ikaya as guest musicians, and now reinforced with socially critical lyrics, especially given the financial crisis and the impact of the austerity policy for the people of Portugal.
