Ricolf

Ricolf was 762-777 / 782 Bishop of Cologne. His date of death is 16 January 777 Some Bishops are lists of 22 years in office. Other forms of the name are Richolfus, Ricolfus, Racholfus, Riculphus, Rihholf.

Life

During his episcopate Ricolf donates the bishop Alberic of Utrecht consecrated bishop and later Bishop of Münster, Liudger, the ordination. In a probably written in England to 781 Alcuin 's poem praises the Patrem Ricvulfus in Cologne as a good host. In the Memoralbüchern ( commemoratio ) the Liège cathedral church of St. Lambert is a September 12 as the date of death incorrectly as archbishop ( archiepiscopus ) designated Riculphi entered. Maybe some of his actions is assigned to the better-known successor Hildebald / Hildebold, the first archbishop of Cologne.
