Riedel (glass manufacturer)
The Riedel glass is an Austrian manufacturer of wine glasses and further connected to the enjoyment of wine glass products. The company's headquarters is in Kufstein Tirol, Austria.
History
On March 16, 1946 escaped Walter Riedel's son, the 21 -year-old Claus Josef Riedel, by jumping from a Gefangenenzug am Brenner captivity. With the Swarovski family, who operated a factory polished gemstones since 1895 in Wattens / Tyrol financial assistance, Claus Riedel was awarded in 1954 the chance to take over the RSN from the bankruptcy. Claus Riedel was built together with his father, the RSN as a manufactory. 1956 - 200 years after the founding of the first Forest glass hut in Bohemia glass production in Kufstein was recorded under the name Riedel glass again. Professor Claus Riedel died on 17 March 2004 at the age of 79 years.
Today the company is run in the 10th and 11th generation of Georg Josef Riedel and his son Maximilian. On 17 September 2004 Riedel acquired 100 % of the shares of FX Nachtmann Lead Crystal GmbH, and with it the direct competitor Spiegelau. The brands Riedel, Nachtmann and Spiegelau operate under the name Riedel Glass Works. As early as 2006 wore night man under its own power to the positive result overall performance of the Group. On 20 December 2004 Georg Riedel appointed his son, Maximilian J. Riedel, CEO of Riedel subsidiary " Riedel Crystal of America". Maximilian Riedel, 11th generation of the family business, in charge since January 2001 as "Vice President" for the North American market, boosted in this function, the sales figures from Riedel alone in North America from 2001 to 2004 by 75 % and the U.S. becoming the largest export market make for Riedel. He is responsible as CEO for both the American as well as for the Canadian market. On 18 January 2006, Rafael Rocco, the son of Georg Riedel's daughter Laetizia Riedel- Röthlisberger born. He justified the 12th generation Riedel.
The Nachtmann plant with 260 employees in Sankt Oswald- Riedlhutte in Bavaria looks forward to an uncertain future, as the closure has been postponed several times.
