Rijnwoude

( Listen? / I ) Rijnwoude is a former municipality in the Netherlands, South Holland, in the municipality of Alphen since 1 January 2014.

  • Hazerswoude, which includes the villages of Hazerswoude - Dorp (village) and Hazerswoude - Rijndijk ( Rheindeich ) exists; here is the local government

Location and economic

The municipality is located on the Old Rhine, between Leiden, Zoetermeer and Boskoop. The nearest railway station is in Leiden, which is approximately 7 kilometers west of Hazerswoude - Rijndijk.

In Koudekerk are some factories, the bricks, roof tiles, etc. produced. Agriculture is the main source of income of the municipality.

Since the sights of the Gothic village church of Koudekerk, some windmills and farms, which can not be viewed from the inside, and a small museum restrict tourism is of little importance.

History

At the point where now lies Hazerswoude - Rijndijk, is said to have found a Roman settlement around 50 AD. The territory of the municipality was in 1281 a Mr. Dirk ( Dietrich ) van Teylingen, member of a leading noble family in South Holland.
