Rimantas StankeviÄius
Rimantas Antanas Stankevičius ( born July 26, 1944 in Marijampolė, Lithuania, † September 9, 1990 in Salgareda, Italy) was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He died before he could launch a space flight.
Life
He received his high school for military pilots of the Air Force " Lenin Komsomol " in Chernigov his training. He was lieutenant colonel of the Soviet Air Force Reserve and civilian test pilot of the LII.
Stankevičius was selected on 1 December 1978 as one of five pilots for the planned Space Shuttle Buran. He received his basic training from February 1979 to February 1982. , He was assigned as co-pilot for the first Buran flight and completed 14 training flights with the Buran - training device.
On September 9, 1990 was killed in the crash Stankevičius a Su-27 and died during an air show in Salgareda in the Italian province of Treviso.
