Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is an American circus company, even The Greatest Show on Earth (engl. " The Greatest Show on Earth " ) is called.

History

The company was founded in 1919 when the circus was founded by James Anthony Bailey and PT Barnum with the Ringling Brothers Circus merged. However, the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus bought the 1907 to 1919 it operated independently. 1957 prompted John Ringling North that instead of tents previously used and specifically to be established now fixed venues such as sports arenas that have been built on the spot, should be used as a guest venues. 1967 Irvin bought the circus field, but sold it in 1971 Mattel on. However, in 1982 acquired Irvin and his son Kenneth Feld him back.

1999 was founded with Feld Entertainment, the production company responsible until today, the other shows like " Disney on Ice" and various productions runs next to the Circus on Broadway and in Las Vegas. In 2010 we celebrated the 200th birthday of PT Barnum and took place at the same time a new generation in the ranks of the producers. For the first time since then with Nicole Field, which was responsible with her father for the program design for several years, and her younger sister Alana, two women in the position of the producer. Kenneth Feld drew largely from the production of the circus back and focused more on his duties as head of Feld Entertainment.

Construction

The company operates in the U.S., three different traveling shows, called units, the designated colors (red, blue and gold ) and their programs are called Editions (English editions). The two big shows (Red and Blue) provide entertainment in up to three arenas, while smaller gold unit is designed as a one- Manezh spectacle. Since the two large units change the programs in alternate years since 1969, the Blue show always takes place in odd-numbered years in straight, the red always. The gold unit is in this case not counted and usually changed every year. In 2013, the blue unit, the 142nd edition and the red unit plays the 143 Edition.

The circus train

With two special trains, each of about 60 cars and a total length of one mile (1.6 km) Circus has the largest private train of the United States. While the two largest units are transported by trains, which also offer some employees permanent accommodation, in the gold -Unit no need for a railway transport and used truck instead.

The Ringmaster

The Ringmaster is the moderator of a circus program. He accompanied the audience with announcements and song by the program. When Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey the Ringmaster comes to an additional role, because he is "the face of the circus ", a figure which is connected with the show and often used for advertising.

In the blue unit is Johnathan Lee Iverson since 2010 is the ringmaster, while since 2013 into the red Unit Andre McClain through the program. Iverson was already 1999-2004 Ringmaster of the red unit, while McClain for many years moderator of the pre-show, both in the blue, and was previously in the red unit. The small gold -Unit is presented since 2013 by David Shipman.
