Riorges

Riorges is a commune with 10,775 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the Loire department in the Rhône-Alpes region 70 km west-northwest of Lyon. The town itself lies on the River Renaison few kilometers west of Roanne.

History

The origin of the place as well as his name is not released. During the Middle Ages the Latin form Riorgiarum was used.

1115 Castle of Beaulieu was built, 1150, the Bourg, which were first used by the Benedictines, then from the 17th century by the Jesuits
