Ripon Falls

The Ripon Falls was a waterfall of the Nile in Uganda. He was the city of Jinja and marked the natural outflow of the Nile from Lake Victoria.

On July 28, 1862 John Hanning Speke who discovered him and named after the Marquess of Ripon, who was from 1830 to 1833 president of the Royal Geographical Society. After the construction of the Owen Falls dam in 1954 about a kilometer above the Owen Falls waterfall lying sank in the lake and so became part of Lake Victoria.
