Risto Savin

Risto Savin (pseudonym for Friderik Širca, born July 11, 1859 in Žalec; † 11 December 1948 in Zagreb) was a Yugoslav composer.

Savin studied in Vienna with Robert Fuchs and in Prague at František Hessler and Karel Knittl. He was in the Slovenian music of the first half of the 20th century the most important representative of a neo-romantic style, composed alongside orchestral and chamber music, choirs and songs and was particularly known for his operas to a wide audience.
