The coast pilot ( English title: Knight 's Cove ) is an adventure television series from the year 1980 it is a co-production with Canadian broadcaster CBC, the German production company TaurusFilm and the British Global Television. . In the series comprising 26 episodes is about a German pilot who runs a small airline in Canada. In Canada, the series ran on CBC, in Germany it was broadcast on ZDF.

Content

During the economic crisis of the pilot Karl Ritter emigrated to the Canadian coast in Vancouver. There he founded the small airline Ritter's air service. When he loses his pilot's license at the age he is forced to set the young pilot Kate Ashcroft. Other characters in the series are Charles' brother Franz, who comes to visit him and wants to get in his company; Charles's son Tim, who is considered lost after an accident and can escape from captivity, and his sons Robert and Arnie. The plot of each episodes consisting mainly of adventures that result from flight operations.

Production and broadcasting

The coast pilot was shot as a joint production of CBC, TaurusFilm and Global Television in British Columbia. The producer was David Pears, the authors were Lyal and Barbara Brown. The series was conceived as a replacement for the durable series beach pirates, but did not have a season with 26 episodes out. On CBC Television Ritter's Cove was erstausgestrahlt of 19 September 1980 to 20 March 1981, the German language version of the ZDF on 16 September 1981 to 24 March 1982.
