River Lavant, West Sussex

The Lavant is a seasonal ( summer often dry ) creek in the South Downs of West Sussex. It rises in a pond in East Dean. From there it flows through Singleton, West Dean, Binderton and Lavant Chichester. His old mouth was Pagham, but was diverted in Roman times, to strengthen the fortification of the city. Its present estuary is located in the port of Chichester.
