Riverhead is a town on Long Iceland in Suffolk County and its administration in the American state of New York. It lies on the north shore of Long Iceland, and had in 2000 a population of 27,680.

The city was founded in 1792. 1822 the first school house was built, which, elsewhere, is a museum today. 1901, the city had about 2,500 inhabitants. In addition to the village itself, still include the hamlets of Aquebogue, Baiting Hollow, Calverton, Jamesport, Northville and Wading River Riverhead.

In Riverhead is a railway station on the Main Line to Greenport Long Iceland Rail Road ( LIRR ), which allows a good train connection to New York City. About the LIRR informed also a museum in the city.

The former wrestler Kerry McCoy was born in 1974 in Riverhead.
