Rob Druppers

Rob Druppers ( born April 29, 1962 in Utrecht ) is a former Dutch athlete in the mid- 80s of the 20th century was one of the strongest 800 -meter runners in the world.

Career

At its special route he won in 1983 at the first World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki in 1:44,20 minutes the silver medal. Four years later he won at the European Indoor Championships the title.

His best time he ran on August 25, 1985 at ASV - sports festival in Cologne. His time of 1:43,56 minutes was until 2006 the Dutch record for 800 m. On February 20, 1988 Druppers ran in The Hague in 2:16,62 minutes a new indoor world record over 1000 m. This time is still Dutch record in the hall.

Rob Druppers ran during his career, more than 800 m eleven times under 1:45 and again at 1:44 minutes.

1983 Druppers was elected in his home country Athlete of the Year. Since 1996, the sports festival named after him Rob Druppers meeting will be held in Overvecht.

He started during his career for Hellas Utrecht. Druppers currently works as a running and fitness coach at FC Utrecht.
