Rob Wainwright (Europol)

Rob Wainwright (born 1967 in Carmarthen, Wales, UK ) is a British economist and since April 2009 Director of Europol in The Hague.

Career

Wainwright studied at the London School of Economics and graduated in 1989 with a BSc (Bachelor of Science) from. After that, he held various management functions in the UK Civil Service. There he dealt with organized crime, counter-terrorism and intelligence analysis. From 2000 to 2003, Wainwright Board of the British Liaison Office Europol and also the head of the British National Europol Unit in London. In 2003 he was appointed Director for International Affairs of the National Criminal Intelligence Service ( NCIS ), where he was responsible for international operations and for the development and implementation of a British strategy against illegal immigration.

Then he knew from 2006, the post of Head of the International Department of the UK Serious Organised Crime Agency ( SOCA ). He was responsible for 20,000 annual police investigations and introduced both an international strategy and new investigative capacity.

Wainwright is married and has three children.
