Robawy

Robawy ( German Robawen, 1938-1945 Robaben ) is a village in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

Geography

The village is located in the historic East Prussia about one kilometer south of Reszel ( Rößel ) and four kilometers northwest of Święta Lipka ( Lipka ). The village is part of the municipality Reszel in powiat Kętrzyński.

History

The village was located on September 6, 1363 from Warmia Bishop John II Stryprock (Polish January Stryprock ) to Kulm law. The village name was founded in Borgholcz. 1733 was the foundation of the family Markuszewski build a baroque chapel. 1783 there were 36 houses in the village, in 1820 the number had dropped to 28. In the 18th century, the name was Robawen. For June 3, 1938 Robawen was renamed Robaben. 1945, at the end of the Second World War, the Red Army marched into the area. As a result of the war the village as Robawy part of Poland was. On 1 January 1955, the village seat of a Schulz Office ( sołectwo ), which belonged to the Gromada Mnichowo was. 1957, the Gromada was dissolved and became part of the Robawy Gromada and as of 1972 the municipality Reszel. The village formed a mayor's office to which the villages Kocibórz, Lipowa and Ramty included.

Culture and sights

In the village there is a chapel which built in 1733 and expanded in 1929. The chapel was built in the Baroque style and has hosted a Pieta from the year 1671 or 1771st It is the copy of an older Gothic sculpture and is now in Reszel. The chapel is open only once a year on July 26, for visitors.

Robawy is due to the voivodeship roads DW 590 and DW 593

The 590 and 593 combines western of the village and then open at the eastern edge of Robawy in the Province Road 594, the 593 crosses after about 20 kilometers to the south at Lutry the provincial road 57 ( droga Krajowa 57).

The 590 runs to the south and ends after 25 kilometers in Biskupiec to the junction with the main road 57 To the north it merges briefly with the 594 and then runs including through Reszel, Korsze ( Korschen ) and Wilkowo Wielkie (Great Wolf Village ) to it joins the Province road 591 north of Barciany ( baleen ).

The voivodship road 594 runs after Reszel and there turn to the west and finally after about 20 kilometers at Bisztynek into the national road 57 in the opposite direction it extends only to the southeast to turn to the five miles in Święta Lipka head east and ends after 15 kilometers in Ketrzyn ( Rastenburg ).

The geographically nearest international airport is Kaliningrad, which is about 100 kilometers northwest located on Russian territory. The nearest international airport on Polish territory is located about 180 kilometers west of Lech Walesa Airport, Gdansk.
