Robby Benson

Robby Benson ( born January 21, 1956 in Dallas, Texas as Robin David Segal ) is an American actor, film director and singer.

Life and career

Robin David Segal was born into a Jewish family in Dallas. His mother Ann was a singer and his father Jerry Segal, a writer. He has a sister named Shelli Segal. He grew up in New York City and began in his childhood on stage; for he took his mother 's maiden name Benson.

His Broadway debut on the stage he made with the musical The Rothschilds. Soon after, he played a role in the series Search for Tomorrow (1972). As a film actor, he celebrated his debut with the Western Jory (1973). Soon after, he was also seen in other films like Jeremy and Ode to Billy Joe in teen roles.

In 1976 he was recorded in the list of the twelve most promising new actor by John Willis ' Screen World. He was also one of the candidates for the role of Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, but which ultimately went to Mark Hamill. Instead, he was in various other film projects, often seen TV movies, such as Whiteout (1978 ) or Harry & Son ( 1984). In 1983 he played the role of Billy Mills in the documentary film Running Brave.

Also known as voice actors Benson is active after being in the Disney film Beauty and the Beast the Beast 1991 borrowed his voice and synchronized following also in various other animated productions and video games characters with his voice. Private

Benson has been working times, a professor at the Tisch School of the Arts of New York University, after he has acquired this status at Appalachian State University. Since 1982 he has been married to actress Karla DeVito, with whom he has two children, a son and a daughter. Since his birth, he also suffers from a serious heart defect.
