Robert Cailliau

Robert Cailliau ( born January 26, 1947 in Tongeren ) is a Belgian computer scientist. He was born the son of a tax inspector.

Working since December 1974 at CERN, he published on November 12, 1990 with Tim Berners -Lee, the concept for a global hypertext project, from the World Wide Web emerged.

For his pioneering work Cailliau was awarded on March 26, 2010 in Zurich the Honorary Award of the Best of Swiss Web Awards.
