Robert D. Rowley

Robert Deane Rowley Jr. ( born July 6, 1941 in Cumberland, Maryland, † January 18, 2010 in York, Pennsylvania) was an Anglican bishop of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America. He was from 1991 to 2007 the 7th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Rowley studied law at the University of Pittsburgh, there received his Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. His Master of Laws in International Law, he was at George Washington University. 1965 Rowley was admitted to the Bar of Pennsylvania, from 1966 he was allowed to become active before the U.S. Supreme Court before the Court of Military Appeals and from 1970.

Rowley was from 1966 to 1974 as a judge advocate in the United States Navy until his retirement in 1992 in the U.S. Naval Reserve active. When he retired in 1992, he was discharged with the rank of captain. Rowley was specialized in international law.

End of the 1970s, Rowley priest decided to become. He attended the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, where he received his Master of Divinity in 1977. In June 1977 he was ordained a deacon, January 1978 Rowley then received his priestly ordination. In May 1989, he was ordained by Edmond Lee Browning and Donald James Davis and James Michael Dyer Mark Bishop and was until 1991 Bischofkoadjutor before eventually even diocesan bishop was. As such, he was from 1993 to 2002 on the Presiding Bishop's Council of Advice, and was in the same time President of the Province III of the Episcopal Church. In 1997 he was one of the candidates for the office of Presiding Bishop, Frank Griswold in the finally selected.

Rowley died on 18 January 2010 at the age of 68 years. On January 22 was his funeral at Arlington National Cemetery. He was married and had two children, a son and a daughter.
