Robert Goebbels

Robert Goebbels ( born April 3, 1944 in Luxembourg City ) is a Luxembourgian politician.

Work

After his training, Robert Goebbels worked as a journalist and was 1972-1974 President of the " Association of luxembourgeoise journalistes " ( ALJ ). From 1970 to 1975 he was Secretary General of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP ).

Between 1976 and 1984, and again from 2000 to 2005 Robert Goebbels was a member of the municipal council of the city of Luxembourg. In 1984 he was appointed Secretary of State for External Relations and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs of the Government of Jacques Santer.

From 1989 he was Minister of Economics, Transport and Public Works, and 1994, and in the government of Jean -Claude Juncker, Minister of Public Works and Energy.

In the election of 1999 Robert Goebbels was elected deputies in the European Parliament, where he is Vice President of the European Socialists and cares primarily about economic and financial dossiers. 2004 and 2009 he was elected for a further term.

MEP

From 2009 to 2014, Goebbels is Deputy Chairman of the Delegation for relations with the countries of Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. As he is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and as alternates to the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, the special committee on organized crime, corruption and money laundering and in the Delegation to the ACP -EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
