Robert Greifeld

Robert Greifeld ( born July 18, 1957 in Queens, New York) is currently the CEO of NASDAQ OMX Group, one of the largest international exchange operator.

Life and career

Greifeld was born in Queens, New York, the son of an Italian-American mother and an Irish- German father. 20 years of his life he worked in the technology industry and developed the first electronic stock trading systems. He has helped the NASDAQ in only nine quarters to an enormous growth in sales. In 2006, as CEO Greifeld was, the NASDAQ was more successful than ever (since the beginning of the recording of Finance in 1997) and in 2005, The NASDAQ OMX share was already number 1 of all markets.

The salary for the year 2012 totaled $ 8.9 million, whereas it was less in 2011, $ 1.3 million.

Robert Greifeld is an outspoken proponent of efficient capital markets, good regulation and ensure the continued growth of U.S. markets.

Prior to joining the NASDAQ in May 2003 was Greifeld vice president of SunGard, a US-based technology companies. He has a master's degree in economics from New York University Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Iona College.

Greifeld lives with his wife and three children in Westfield, New Jersey.
