Robert J. Doherty

Robert J. Doherty (* 1924) is an American photographer, scientists, and museum director.

His photographic work has been shown for the first time in Watertown, Connecticut, then at the Arts Club of Louisville, the Louisville Art Center Association School and the Allen R. Hite Art Institute, University of Louisville. In 1962, Doherty curator of the photography collection at the Hite Art Institute and two years later Acting Director of the Institute, and from 1966 to 1972 he served as director. From 1972 to 1981 he served as director of the renowned George Eastman House. Doherty et al written about social documentary photography, creative photography and photographs of the First World War.
