Robert J. Sawyer

Robert J. Sawyer ( born April 29, 1960 in Ottawa, Ontario ) is a Canadian science fiction author.

He describes himself as a hard science fiction author, but is more concerned with characterization and human psychology than many other representatives of this sub-genre. His stories often deal with metaphysics in the style of Arthur C. Clarke and philosophy; He sees science fiction as a literature of ideas. The television series FlashForward is based on Sawyer's novel of the same from the year 1999.
