Robert Lindley Murray

Robert Lindley Murray ( born November 3, 1892 in San Francisco, California, † January 17, 1970 in Lewiston Heights, New York) was an American tennis player.

Career

Since he was professionally strongly clamped, he only played tennis in his spare time. Nevertheless, he managed to beat in Forest Hills in the finals the great Bill Tilden in 1918 at the U.S. Championships (now the U.S. Open ), after he won the tournament in 1917. After he failed the following year in the quarterfinals, he stepped in any major tournament in more. In 1958, the induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
