Robert Mac Lachlan

Robert Mac Lachlan (also McLachlan or M'Lachlan; born April 10, 1837 in Ongar, Essex, † May 23 1904 in Lewisham ) was an English entomologist.

Life and work

He was the son of Hugh MacLachlan. He devoted himself initially to the study of botany before specializing to the Neuroptera. He was the first editor of the Entomologists ' Monthly Magazine.

1858 Mac Lachlan member of the Entomological Society of London, 1868-1872 Secretary, 1873-1875 and 1891-1904 and Treasurer 1885-1886 President. From 1862 he was also a member of the Linnean Society of London, from 1877 to the Royal Society, in 1881 the Zoological Society of London, from 1888, the Royal Horticultural Society. He was also a member of the Council of the Ray Society.
