Robert Pracht

Charles Robert Pracht ( born April 12, 1878 in Mulhouse ( Alsace ); † May 4, 1961 in Karlsruhe ) was a German school musician and composer. He is mainly known for various violin and piano works ( etudes ), as well as for his numerous choral songs.

Splendor was born as the son of music director Robert Ottmar splendor in Alsace Mulhouse. After his school education, he attended the teacher training college in Meersburg and studied it from 1900 to 1904 at the Academy of Music in Mannheim. In the meantime, he put 1902 in Karlsruhe the state exam for music from.

After a brief teaching career in Meersburg and to the teacher training colleges Freiburg and Karlsruhe splendor was appointed to the Humboldt -Gymnasium in Karlsruhe, where until his retirement in 1945, he was more than two decades working as a music teacher. In this capacity, he created numerous school musical works for piano, violin and wind instruments as well as musicological publications.

In addition headed splendor various choral societies, including the glee club " Badenia " in Karlsruhe, the Liederkranz in Bruchsal, the men's choir cheerfulness in Kirrlach and the glee club Eintracht Bad Langenbrücken. Splendor died in Karlsruhe in 1961 at the age of 83 years. He was married in 1909 to Maria Reiss, with whom he had their son Robert Louis splendor.

His most popular choral works, " The Dawn " and "wine country ", are still performed today, especially in the German-speaking countries, in the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Canada, Australia and South Africa.
