Robert Redeker

Robert Redeker ( born May 27, 1954 in Lescure, department Ariège ) is a French philosopher of German descent. He is on the editorial board of the founded by Jean -Paul Sartre, literary- political journal Les Temps Modernes.

Life

Redeker had a German father, who was a farm worker in stone mountains near Hanover and had done military service in the German Afrika Korps. According to Redeker but he had " spat on Hitler." After that, he was interned in the southwest of France, where I met his wife - a Lower Saxon from Hildesheim, who had also turned their backs on their country.

Redeker is a lecturer at the École de l'aviation de Toulouse and teacher at the Lycée Pierre -Paul Riquet in the village of Saint -Orens -de- Ville Game at Toulouse and presenter in a local station of the Jewish community called Radio Kol Aviv. He publishes regularly in newspapers and magazines such as Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération and Marianne. Several of his works have been translated into English, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.

Controversy over anti-Islam articles

On 19 September 2006 Redeker published in the daily newspaper Le Figaro the Islam-critical products Face aux intimidations islamistes, que doit faire le monde libre? (German: "What should the free world do in the face of Islamist intimidation? "), a contribution to the debate about the Pope Quote of Regensburg. Due to a comment by Yusuf al- Qaradawi in the television station al -Jazeera article was spread through the Islamic world.
