Robert Townsend (actor)
Robert Townsend ( born February 6, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actor, comedian, director and screenwriter.
Career
Townsend was born the second of four children of Robert and Shirley Townsend. As a child he began to imitate different actors and thus to entertain his mother. In elementary school, he astonished his classmates at a reading of Shakespeare's Oedipus Rex with the ability to play different characters with ease.
His actual career began improvisation at the New York Comedy Club The. From there he went to Hollywood and turned the first films. After some time he began to write screenplays and directing. He made history at the NAACP Image Awards 2001. Three of his ruling out actors from three different films were nominated for the category of Best Actor / Best Actress.
