Robert Wiedersheim

Robert Ernst Eduard Wiedersheim (* April 21, 1848 in Nürtingen; † July 12, 1923 in Schachen (Lindau ) ) was a German comparative anatomist.

His father was Eduard Friedrich Wiedersheim ( 1819-1882 ). His mother, Bertha Friederike Wiedersheim (1825-1848), born Otto, died a few days after his birth. Robert Wiedersheim was then in the house of his grandfather, the manufacturer Immanuel Friedrich Otto (1791-1875) in Nürtingen, erzogen.Seine school he graduated from the one in Nürtingen and on the other in Kirchheim unter Teck then followed the high school in Stuttgart, where he at one uncle could live.

He studied from 1868 a semester science in Lausanne, then medicine from 1868 to 1870 in Tübingen under Franz von Leydig, 1871 in Würzburg, 1872 in Freiburg Albert Schinzinger. With a dissertation on the finer structural conditions of the glands in the gizzard of birds he received his doctorate at the local medical school. In 1873 he resigned his state exam with Adolf Kussmaul and a doctorate in Würzburg. During his studies in 1868 he was a member of the fraternity Germania Tübingen.

He became an assistant to Albert von Kölliker. As the successor of Hasse he took over the Department of Pathology. In 1873 he married the Tilla Gruber, a daughter of Lindauer businessman Friedrich Gruber. After his Nostrifikation he worked from 1876 at the Anatomical Institute of the University of Freiburg in Alexander Ecker in Freiburg, where he was appointed the following year to associate professor. In 1883 he was the successor of Ecker Professor and Director of the anatomical and comparative anatomical institute. In 1918 he became Professor Emeritus.

1894 Wiedersheim was appointed to the Privy Councilor Councilor and 1902. 1910 he was appointed privy councilor.
