Roberto Dinamite

Roberto Dinamite, actually Carlos Roberto de Oliveira ( born April 13, 1954 in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian politician and former national football player. As a footballer, he was one of the outstanding players of Vasco da Gama and the top scorer of the club. In total he scored 744 goals in 1022 games, including 698 for Vasco. Since 1995, he has a seat in the Parliament of the State of Rio de Janeiro. In 2008 he was elected as president of Vasco da Gama.

His nickname " Dinamite " he received in November 1971 after the 17- year-old striker had scored in a game in the Maracana a magnificent goal. The Jornal dos Sports wrote: " The Dynamite Boy detonated in Maracanã ".

Career

The center forward started his career in the youth team of Vasco da Gama. From 1970 to 1979 he played for his tribe club, before he was hired by FC Barcelona. However, he could not adjust in Spain and returned to Vasco, where he worked from 1980 to 1989 use. In 1989 and 1990 he was awarded to the Portuguesa state of São Paulo. He graduated in 1990 some games for Vasco, played in 1991 finish for Campo Grande, leaving his career in 1992 and 1993 at Vasco.

His last goal came Roberto Dinamite on 26 October 1992 a 2-0 win against Vasco Goytacaz FC. On 24 March 1993, he told 39 - year his retirement from active football. The friendly match against Deportivo de La Coruña in the Maracanã stadium that day was the last game of his career.

After his football career, Roberto Dinamite joined the Social Democrats and was elected to the City Council of Rio de Janeiro. Since 1994 he has been a deputy in the State of Rio de Janeiro. He was re-elected for the first time in 1998. 2002 and 2006 was re-elected as a member of the populist PMDB.

After he unsuccessfully ran for the presidency of CR Vasco da Gama in 2003 and 2006, he was finally elected in 2008.

National

Roberto Dinamite completed 53 international matches with the Brazilian national team, scoring 26 goals. In the 1978 World Cup he scored three goals. In the 1982 World Cup, he was a substitute for Serginho Chulapa. It was convened by the team manager Telê Santana after Careca had hurt.
