Robin Matthews (economist)

Robin Charles Oliver Matthews ( born June 16, 1927 in Edinburgh, † June 19, 2010 in Cambridge ) was a British economist and chess composer.

Life

Matthews was from 1965 to 1975 Drummond Professor of Political Economy at the University of Oxford. He then moved to Cambridge, where he took over the chair of political economy at Clare College.

Three days after his 83rd birthday Matthews died at home.

Chess composition

Matthews was chairman of the British Chess Problem Society. He was primarily known as the creator of checkmate in three tasks.
