Robot Carnival

Robot Carnival (Japaneseロボット·カーニバル, Robotto Kānibaru ) is an anime episode film, which was released in 1987 as an original video animation. The film contains nine episodes of different Japanese directors on " robots".

Production and publication

The anime was created on the initiative of producers Kazufumi Nomura, who wanted to be a "robot " in different ways represent. The 91 -minute film was then the directors of the episode from the studio APPP produced. The music composed Isaku Fujita, Masahisa Takeichi and Joe Hisaishi. The tasks of the character designs and the artistic direction took over with the respective directors.

On July 21, 1987, the film in Japan was released on VHS tape. Later, a broadcast by Bandai Channel followed. The Sci Fi Channel broadcast the anime from English to French Canal .

Reception

The Complete Anime Guide by Trish Ledoux and Doug Ranney, the film is cited as an example of how the idealism of the science fiction genre of the 1960s slowly waned and was replaced by dark stories. Robot Carnival offers a great variety of original and sometimes surprising stories and was like a " native Animated Film Festival ". The American critic Leonard Maltin wrote, not all episodes were entirely successful, "but the best are pretty good ."
