Rocar

The corporation ROCAR S. A. (until 1993 Uzina Autobuzul Bucureşti respectively 1955-1970 Uzinele Tudor Vladimirescu ) was a Romanian manufacturer of commercial vehicles existed from 1951 to 2002 and was based in Bucharest. Were manufactured vans, buses and trolleybuses.

History

1951, the company was founded and first installed production lines for commercial vehicles and agricultural machinery. An in-house sports club was founded in 1953 under the name Autobuzul Bucharest. 1956 was the first bus on a truck chassis and 1957 advanced to the pallet trolley buses, minibuses and plank bed of his own design. From 1968 ROCAR vehicles exported to eastern European states, Africa, South America and the Middle East. In 1971 the company bought a license from MAN. Part of the production was delivered since the 1970s under the brand Diesel Auto Camion (abbreviated DAC). From 1990 collaborated with ROCAR De Simon, an Italian manufacturer of bus bodies.
