Rocco Granata

Rocco Granata ( born August 16, 1938 in Figline Vegliaturo, Calabria, Italy) is an Italian- burly entertainer and pop singer. His name is not an artist, but his actual birth name.

Life

Rocco Granata was born in 1938 in the Calabrian Figline Vegliaturo. His parents moved from southern Italy to Genk, district Waterschei, the Belgian coalfield. Rocco Granata worked as an auto mechanic and devoted himself to music as a hobby by playing at fairs in the surrounding countryside with friends. In 1957 she played a samba, the melody of which the audience arrived very well, and shortly thereafter Granata also wrote an Italian text for the song. He named it Marina to a newly promoted cigarette brand whose advertising poster he discovered in a bar before a performance. He tried to find a record company to record, however, consisted only rejections.

Rocco Granata began to market his piece marina itself and pressed for this purpose 300 self-produced singles, which he distributed to deejays and relevant record stores with the Commission. The label EMI Columbia became aware of the demand on the song and artist and this song brought out in 1959. Not only in Germany but also in the U.S. and in Italy and in other European countries Marina was a great success.

Rocco had more success hit and entered the 1960s with his own show at New York's Carnegie Hall. Also the film came forward and he acted as an actor and singer in several musical films.

The artist currently lives with his wife in Antwerp, loves to play golf and occasionally occurs in nostalgic music shows. For his superhit Marina he received numerous gold records.
