Rock Werchter

Rock Werchter is a music festival which takes place since 1974 in Werchter in Belgium annually between late June and early July.

Overview

It is next to Sziget, the Glastonbury Festival and Roskilde Festival 's four largest annual music festivals in Europe. It was 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 with the Arthur Award as the best festival in the world. Since 2012, it is designed for 85,000 visitors per day, a total of around 139,000 people visited the festival.

History

The first festival was in 1974 still held as a one-day event. Over the years, Torhout Werchter - became one of the biggest music festivals in Belgium. It was not until 1996 Torhout - Werchter took place over two days. There was then a double festival in two different places, Torhout Werchter and.

Starting in 1999, the festival then took place only in Werchter. Since 2000, the festival lasted for three days and since 2003, four days. During this time, the festival was four times awarded the Arthur Award.

Expiration

The festival will be opened on the first day by 16 clock. From the second day it starts 12 to 14 clock. Concerts end at night usually by 1 clock. On the last day of the concert will end with a fireworks display. 2012 took the festival from June 28. - 1st July.
