Rod Taylor

Rodney " Rod" Taylor ( born January 11, 1930 in Sydney, Australia) is an Australian actor.

Life and career

Taylor spent a year studying at Sydney 's Independent Theatre School and then worked for several years in various theater, radio and film roles in Australia. In 1953 he played in a U.S. production, which was filmed in Australia. In the hope of a Hollywood career, he came in 1954 in the United States. There, among other things, in large-scale productions such as giants, he worked for several years as a supporting actor ( Giant, 1956) or in the movie Always the darn women, in which Shirley MacLaine and David Niven played the lead roles.

His breakthrough came in 1960 in the film adaptation of the novel The Time Machine ( Time Machine ) by HG Wells in which he travels as the inventor George in the future. 1963 played Rod Taylor in Alfred Hitchcock's film The Birds on a short story by Daphne du Maurier along with Tippi Hedren. In the following years, Taylor has starred in several romantic comedies, among other things on the side of Doris Day, but came predominantly in Adventure, action and western films. The Western Chuka (1967 ) was Taylor's only film in which he was involved as a producer.

From 1970, Taylor moved as many stars of the 1960s, his work increasingly on television, for example, in series such as Falcon Crest, Murder, She Wrote and Walker, Texas Ranger. In 2009 he had 79 years with his last film appearance to date in Inglourious Basterds by Quentin Tarantino as Winston Churchill.

Taylor is married to third wife Carol Kikumura Taylor; from his second marriage he has a daughter.
